General Questions
Who is Douglas Carr?
Douglas Carr is an award winning published fine art photographer based in Oslo Norway known for abstract and painterly photographic artworks created using in-camera techniques and long exposure movement.
Are these photographs or paintings?
The artworks are photographs created using advanced in-camera techniques and editing, but many collectors describe them as looking more like paintings because of their abstract and expressive style.
Are AI tools used to create the artworks?
No. All artworks are created by Douglas Carr using camera techniques and traditional photographic editing methods.
Are the prints limited edition?
Yes. Every artwork is released as a limited edition DGA (Digital Graphic Art) print with restricted edition numbers depending on size and material. From 300 for 45x30 to 5 editions 180x120cm.
Do the prints come with a certificate of authenticity?
Yes. All limited edition prints include a signed and numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
Are the prints signed?
On special request fine art prints can be signed. Prints on aluminium only comes with a signed Certificate.
Can I buy Douglas Carr prints online?
Yes. Collectors worldwide can purchase selected artworks directly through the online gallery.
Print Materials & Quality
What paper are the fine art prints made on?
Art by Douglas Carr's fine art prints are printed on Fuji DPI 250mg paper a silver glossy photo paper that has become the favourite of many professional artists and is a favourite for many galleries and museums. However Norwegian local collectors can request for artworks to be printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag and then the I'll also number and sign the prints and can also be framed professionally with uv protected anti reflex museum quality glass.
What are aluminium prints?
Aluminium prints are high-definition artworks mounted onto Dibond® aluminium panels for a sleek contemporary presentation with exceptional durability. See Products Page for more info.
Are the prints archival quality?
Yes. All artworks are produced using museum-grade archival materials designed for long-term preservation.
Will the prints fade over time?
With proper care and by avoiding direct sunlight, the prints are designed to maintain their quality and colour for 60+ years. UV-protected framing is recommended.
What sizes are available?
Print sizes vary depending on the artwork and aspect ratio, including traditional, panoramic, and square formats, but you're welcome to make a special request.
What aspect ratios are available?
Most artworks are available in 4:3 vertical, 3:2 landscape, and 1:1 aspect ratios depending on the the artists vision.
Are the colours accurate to the website?
Every effort is made to ensure colour accuracy using calibrated monitors and professional ICC printing profiles, although colours may vary slightly between screens.
Framing Questions
Do the prints come framed?
Most prints are sold unframed unless otherwise stated. Custom framing is available for Oslo-area collectors.
Can I order custom framing?
Custom framing with UV-protected museum-quality glass is available for selected artworks to Oslo local collectors only. Contact K&K before ordering at douglascarrphotography@gmail.com
What frame colours are available?
Framing options will be discussed on request.
Why are many prints sold unframed?
Unframed shipping reduces transport costs and allows collectors to choose framing styles locally to match their interior.
Shipping & Delivery
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. Art by Douglas Carr ships worldwide directly from our printing partner.

How long does shipping take?
Delivery usually takes between 7–25 days depending on location and customs processing.
Will I receive tracking information?
Yes. Tracking information is sent by email once your order has been dispatched.
Do I need to pay customs fees or import taxes?
International buyers may be responsible for local import taxes, customs duties, or handling fees depending on their country, but prints are not sold with VAT Value Added Tax. A 5% Norwegian Art Tax is already included into the price.
Are the prints securely packaged?
Yes. All artworks are professionally packaged for safe international shipping and each artwork is packed and shipped individually.
What happens if my order arrives damaged?
If your artwork arrives damaged ensure the DHL delivery personnel make a note of it and you photograph the parcel and damaged areas in their presence. Then once inside open the parcel carefully not to damage the packing furter and inspect the art. If its damaged photograph the damage and contact Art by Douglas Carr with all photographs of the damage and packaging and artwork to arrange a replacement.

Returns & Payments
Can I return a print?
No, based on Norwegian law (Angrerettloven § 22(e) products like limited edition prints which are custom made to the buyers request are exempt from return.
What if my print has a defect?
If your package arrives damaged Please take photographs of the box and ensure the DHL delivery person make a note of it before you sign for the delivery or does not arrive within 21 days after dispatch, please contact us as soon as possible at douglascarrphotography@gmail.com See Return Policy for more info
Can I cancel an order after purchase?
Orders usually cannot be cancelled once production has started because each print is custom made and Art by Douglas Carr use an automated service. See point 9 under DCP Terms and Conditions.
What payment methods are accepted?
Payments are securely processed using trusted payment providers.
Is online payment secure?
Yes. Payments are encrypted and processed securely using PCI DSS compliant systems. See 6.4 Payment Security on Terms and Conditions for more info.
Artwork & Collecting
Why are the editions limited?
Limited editions help preserve exclusivity, collectability, and long-term artistic value.
Are all artworks available in every size?
Not always. Availability depends on the artwork, edition size, and print material. Once an artwork is sold out in a specific size then yes it will not be printed in that size again and when all editions are sold no more artwork will be printed. Copies of artwork might however be published in photo books.
Can I request a specific artwork on aluminium?
Yes. Many artworks are available both as fine art paper prints and aluminium prints.
Are Douglas Carr artworks available in galleries?
Yes. Selected works are available through galleries including Galley M35 in Akker Bryge Oslo and Galleri Havstad in Drøbak.
Can I see the artworks in person?
Selected framed works can be viewed at partner galleries in Norway. Contact us Art by Douglas Carr for more details and or if works is being exhibited elsewhere.
Are the artworks suitable for offices and hotels?
Yes. The artworks are frequently chosen for modern interiors, offices, hotels, and contemporary homes.
Can I commission custom work?

How do I clean an aluminium print?
Aluminium prints should be cleaned gently using a dry microfibre cloth.
How should I hang my artwork?
Use wall fixings suitable for your wall type and the weight of the artwork.
Should artworks be placed in direct sunlight?
No. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight to preserve colour and longevity.
