About Douglas Carr
He studied photography at Cape Peninsula Technikon in Cape Town. In 1995 he left South Africa to travel the world, eventually settling in London for seven years. In 2003 he moved to Norway, where he opened portrait and wedding studios in Narvik and Harstad. Carr has won many awards for his photography and Portrait of the year in 2005.
In 2013 his passion shifted toward wildlife photography. This led him to the African bush, where he became a qualified safari ranger and started his own photo safari business. The pandemic in 2020 had a severe impact on many lives and businesses. Carr was forced to sell all his camera equipment and vehicles to support himself as tourism came to a halt.
